The
JELD-WEN Most Reliable Pet Contest
SM will collect stories about
pets that make their owners’ lives richer, safer and more
comfortable each and every day, or about pets that have come
into animal shelters after some traumatic event or loss that
tests their strength, stamina and reliability.
JELD-WEN,
whose theme is “Reliability for real life,” will recognize the
nation’s most reliable pets to demonstrate that home, family and
pets of all kinds are the fabric and substance of America.
JELD-WEN manufactures and sells millions of windows and doors
that are installed in homes around the world, providing reliable
comfort for countless families and their pets.
The grand
prize winner will receive an extraordinary pet playhouse valued
at $5,000, featuring a number of fun and fabulous amenities,
including pet-size JELD-WEN windows and doors. Grand prize for
an animal shelter or humane society that submits the winning
animal story is $5,000 cash. Other prizes and gift certificates
also may be awarded.
Pet owners,
handlers, animal shelter employees or others who know first-hand
about a remarkable, reliable pet, should submit a written,
authentic and verifiable story of 100 to 200 words that
illustrates the pet’s reliability. Service animals (police and
fire dogs and horses) are not eligible. Pet professionals and
other real life heroes will judge the entries.
Finalists
will be notified in late May and will be required to submit a
newspaper or magazine article, television story on VHS or CD,
official police or fire report or statement that verifies each
finalist’s claim of their contestant’s reliability. Winners will
be will be announced on or about June 15.
Contest details
Entries must be submitted to the JELD-WEN Web site,
www.jeld-wen.com/reliablepetcontest
or in writing to CMD, c/o Public Relations Dept., 1732 NW Quimby
St., Portland, OR 97209, between March 11 and May 13, 2005.
Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to enter or have
written permission with a signature from a parent or legal
guardian. Required information includes a 100 to 200-word
statement that tells the story of the pet’s reliability and
includes the name of the person entering the contest, type of
animal and its name, breed, age, owner’s name, address,
telephone number and length of ownership.
